Ballard Scores Pair of Podiums Against Nation’s Best in Port City Triple Crown
What do you get when you take four top young racers and make them do an egg-and-spoon race for starting position? Sit down, let us tell you the story...
TULSA, Oklahoma. Levi Ballard went head-to-head with some of the best young racers in the country last weekend and came away with a pair of podium finishes in the National Open Wheel 600 Series Super Series Triple Crown at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The 30-car Restricted Micro field included Owen Larson, Brexton Busch, Cade Wolfe, Lathan Knott, and several other young drivers who have made names for themselves across the country.
Ballard was right in the middle of it all.
Levi set quick time in qualifying on the opening night, then raced from fourth to second in his heat. Starting second in the feature, he finished third to earn a podium and, more importantly, lock himself directly into Saturday night’s main event.
That took care of the racing part.
Figuring out where the four locked-in drivers would start Saturday was a little different.
Port City lined up Ballard, Larson, Busch, and Knott for an egg and spoon race. Each driver had to balance an egg on a wooden spoon, hold it in front of them, and walk toward the finish line without dropping it.
It went about as well as you would expect with four race car drivers.
Knott took the pole without ever actually crossing the finish line. He went slow and steady and kept his egg on the spoon while everyone else dropped theirs. Larson ended up second, Busch third, and Levi fourth.
“It’s a good thing he can drive a race car,” Levi’s father, Kory, said with a smile.
Fortunately for Levi, the rest of the night involved something with an engine.
Starting outside the second row, Ballard spent the feature battling Larson, Busch, Knott, and Wolfe on a Port City surface that allowed the drivers to use the entire racetrack and put on a thrilling show for the fans.
Levi worked his way from fourth to second and stayed in the fight for the win throughout the race, finishing runner-up to cap off a weekend that included third and second-place finishes against what was arguably the toughest Restricted Micro field he has faced all season.
“That was so much fun!” Levi said after the race. “We were all battling back and forth, and I think any one of us could have won it. It was a strong weekend overall. I’m hungry for a win and ready to finish the season strong with just a handful of races left! Thank you to Factory Fourteen, Holley, Billy, Harley, Frannie, Thomas, Brent, Grady, Luis, CB Industries, Chad Boat, Keizer Racing Wheels, K1 RaceGear, Dirt Crowd, and all of my supporters. We’re heading to I-44 next in Oklahoma City, and after tonight, I’m pumped to get back in the car!”
Team Levi Racing now heads to I-44 Speedway in Oklahoma City with only a handful of races remaining and Ballard still digging for another win before the 2026 season comes to a close.
