CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2026) – On a Friday where the NASCAR industry and the general public will come together to honor the life and legacy of the late Kyle Busch, perhaps it’s fitting that a truck coming out of the former Kyle Busch Motorsports building will lead the Ecosave 200 to green.
Connor Mosack wheeled the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado RST to a lap of 29.961 seconds (180.234 mph) around the 1.5-mile CMS quad-oval, earning his second career Kennametal Pole Award to kick off an emotional day for the organization.
Spire Motorsports purchased the assets of KBM ahead of the 2024 Truck Series season and continued fielding Busch in selected races until his sudden passing. In fact, Busch’s 69th and final Truck Series win came in a Spire entry at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway back on May 15, just nine days before his death.
Mosack’s PurePEX-sponsored truck is carrying a scheme reminiscent of the 100th and final win by KBM, which Busch earned at Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway in 2023 by virtue of a last-lap pass.
The Charlotte, N.C., native hopes to replicate Busch’s feat with a trophy hoist of his own in front of a home crowd, and he’ll do so from prime real estate when the third race of the Truck Series Chase kicks off at 5 p.m. ET.
“Obviously, tonight’s for Kyle and everybody here is so inspired, you know, wanting to celebrate him with a lot of former KBM people. And it’s just really special for me to be able to run this scheme, [honoring] his last win at KBM at Pocono in 2023,” noted Mosack. “Thank you to PurePEX for being on board for it and going along with everything. It’s been awesome to be part of that group.
“Obviously with what we showed here in qualifying, we’ve got a really solid truck here tonight. Need a little work, I think, on the long-run pace … but we’re not too far off, so hopefully we can work on it and go get a win for Kyle tonight.”
Joining Mosack on the front row is TRICON Garage’s Tanner Gray, whose best lap of 30.023 seconds (179.862 mph) in the No. 15 Black’s Tire Toyota Tundra TRD Pro was just .062 off the pole and good enough for second overall.
Gray’s TRICON teammate, series point leader Kaden Honeycutt, rolls off third (30.053/179.683) in the No. 11 Safelite Toyota and is best among the Chase contenders on the starting grid. He’s flanked in row two by Mosack’s Spire stablemate Rajah Caruth (30.071/179.575), who’s driving the No. 77 Chevrolet.
Niece Motorsports young gun Landen Lewis qualified fifth in just his second appearance at a 1.5-mile oval, followed by Bayley Currey, Grant Enfinger, Christian Eckes, Andres Perez de Lara, and Chandler Smith.
Honeycutt’s chief title rival, Front Row Motorsports’ Layne Riggs, won at Charlotte in May but struggled to find single-lap speed early in the day. Riggs starts 13th for Friday evening’s Truck Series race.
Other notables deeper in the lineup include 2024 series champion Ty Majeski (17th) and FOX NASCAR analyst Regan Smith (30th), who is making a return to driving duties for the second time this season in Kaulig Racing’s RAM Free Agent entry.
With 36 drivers on hand for 36 starting spots, no one failed to qualify for the 21st race of the Truck Series season.
Broadcast coverage of the Ecosave 200 is slated for 5 p.m. ET, live on FS1, the NASCAR Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
