Make It A High Limit Hat Trick For Kyle Larson

SUPERIOR, Wis. (June 4, 2026) – Another night with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing’s Roto-Rooter Midweek Series, this time at Gondik Law Speedway, provided the latest reminder that Kyle Larson is near-unstoppable right now in Paul Silva’s No. 57 sprint car.
Despite five cautions – including two incidents that necessitated red-flag stoppages – Larson led all but one of the 30 laps Thursday night for his third straight High Limit feature win and fifth on the year.
Larson’s hat trick of victories has come in a four-night span, with one more race on deck for the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Friday before he heads to Michigan Int’l Speedway for his day-job duties.
In this one, which came in the Elk Grove, Calif., native’s debut at the three-eighths-mile dirt track, Larson started third and initially got the jump on front-row starters Daison Pursley and Aaron Reutzel – driving from third to first in the first two corners before a yellow at the end of lap one negated the pass.
But Sye Lynch’s spin to the bottom of turn four from 11th place did nothing to deter Larson.
He reloaded for the second try at the green flag, and though Pursley held Larson at bay briefly to lead the opening lap officially, Larson slid the Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA No. 9 in turns one and two the second time around to take a lead he wouldn’t relinquish.
Larson’s lead ballooned as large as 3.7 seconds in the early going, but a lap-11 caution for a slowing Joel Myers Jr. began a spate of slowdowns that prevented the advantage from growing excessive again.
Despite multiple restarts, however, Larson stood firm each time. The closest Peck got to seizing control was on the final green with 12 to go, when he slid Larson and briefly was out in front exiting turn two before Larson drag-raced him down into turn three and reclaimed the spot for good.
After that, Larson drove away by a second and a half for the 14th High Limit sprint car victory of his career, tying his brother-in-law Brad Sweet for second place on the all-time win list – behind only defending series champion Rico Abreu’s 27 career victories.
It’s the second time Larson has won three straight High Limit features. He previously did so in 2023.
“It’s a cool track, like a great shape for sprint car racing,” said Larson in victory lane of Gondik Law Speedway. “This orange dirt, it’s some of the best in the country. [It behaved] a lot like Port Royal, really, in the slick where it gets black. That was getting me a little bit nervous there at the end. Justin [Peck], he was kind of running lower than me, it sounded like, in [turns] one and two. When he slid me there into [turn] one on the restart, I wasn’t sure if I could get enough of an exit … because I figured his car was probably pretty good to do that, but then I just picked the pace up and tried to run a little harder.
“Hats off again to Paul [Silva] and Trevor [Canales, crew member]. It's been a great week so far, and hopefully we can keep it up with one more [sprint car] race for me this week.”
Larson now has eight victories in 37 starts this year across all disciplines, with six coming on dirt and five being in a 410 sprint car.
Does he feel like he’s hitting his stride with a wing overhead? The star driver wasn’t ready to commit to an outright yes just yet, even after his Thursday-night success.
“I don’t know. I mean, I always wondered how we would do if we ran a full season. And in 2020, I think [we] kind of proved how lethal we could be if you give Paul enough nights at it and get me more nights behind the wheel too,” Larson admitted. “These tracks have been a lot of fun. It’s been a lot different than what we’ve ran on so far to start the year for me. I don’t know if they just suited our style or what, but we definitely have been a lot more competitive here these first three nights of this week than we have most of the other races this year.
“Happy about that. Hopefully, it means we’re getting our car better.”
Peck tied his season-best finish with High Limit Racing courtesy of a runner-up finish in the Rudeen Racing No. 26, with Brent Marks crossing third for his fourth straight podium in his own No. 19.
Buch Motorsports’ Tanner Holmes and Ridge & Sons Racing’s Aaron Reutzel rounded out the top five.
Sixth through 10th in the rundown were Abreu, Giovanni Scelzi, Pursley, 20th-starting Tanner Thorson, and Chase Randall.
Pursley faded quickly when he dipped a tire over the turn-two banking on lap eight. Though he kept his car moving, the Locust Grove, Okla., young gun could never fully recover.
Thorson’s run through the field from a B-main transfer netted him hard-charger honors for the night.
Of note, the two red flags Thursday night came on laps 12 and 19, respectively, both for incidents where a car jumped over the banking and small outside curb at the top of turn two.
The first crash saw Danny Sams III get together with Ayrton Gennetten in a battle for 18th, with the contact sending Gennetten’s car upside down in the grass outside the second corner. The later incident was when fifth-running Kerry Madsen’s No. 55 hopped over the curb and stopped in the outside grass.
Leaving Gondik Law Speedway, Reutzel reclaimed the overall point lead by one over Abreu heading into Friday’s High Limit stop at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn.
