ANDERSON, S.C. -- Brody Gunter is set to compete in this weekend's $3k to win legend car event at Anderson Motor Speedway, and he's also set to make his pro late model debut on May 10th at Hickory Motor Speedway.  

This weekend's race should feature some of the top legend car talent in the Southeast, and Gunter will be racing for the first time in the Pro division outside of his home state of Florida. 

"I'm excited to go to Anderson and get back in the race car for the first time since February," Gunter said. "This race is going to be a dogfight with the money on the line, but I have a lot of confidence in the car, and I think we can give them a run for the money. I want to say thank you to 510 Racing, Jordan Black Racing Development, Hardee Timber and Lumber, and Leveled Out Yard and Tree, all of whom have helped make our racing possible this year. We plan to run the Summer Shootout at Charlotte with the legend car, and we'll see what else happens with that now that we are making our late model debut in two weeks."

The opportunity to race a pro late model with the Carolina Pro Late Model Series has come about within the last week, and Brody is looking forward to it. This, after testing a Pro Late Model back in March, which is owned by Randy Joyner, and getting his feet wet in the big cars.

"Matt Drake called us about racing his car, and we decided to take him up on it," the 18-year-old future engineering student said.  "Jordan Black has been a huge help to me as a driving coach, and Jordan won last year at Hickory in that car with that series.  So, we know it's going to be a good car. Jordan was at Caraway Speedway when we tested with Randy's car, and he thought we were ready to go run a race. I can't thank Randy, Walter (Stillwell), and the team for that opportunity to test. I felt comfortable in the car and enjoyed the entire afternoon with them. Our goal for Hickory with Matt is to qualify as well as we can and then finish all the laps with the car in one piece.  We might do some additional races with Matt, depending on how this first one goes.  This is a key step in my dream of racing in NASCAR's national series someday, and I want to make the most of the opportunity.  It should be fun, and I cannot thank Matt enough for his faith in me to put me in it. We'll make sure to get a test in it before the raceday, and then go and do our best."
