AUBURNDALE, Fl. -- Night two of the 2025 Winter Showdown Series powered by Sunoco and Southern Race Fuels saw 114 cars in action across five divisions, and an extra feature race was added because of the high car count.  

The Beginner Bandolero feature race was first on track and Chase Bohanon held off a strong late race charge from Tayton Monroe to cross the finish line first.  Unfortunately for Bohanon, his machine was DQ’d in post-race inspection, handing the win to Monroe, his first of the week.  

Calli Duchcherer ended up second, followed by Addison Veinotte, Carson Glover, Levi Ballard, and Bohanon.

The TQ Midget division was next up for three qualifying heats.  Brian Schulz won the first of the three, with Dominque Smith, Ronnie Flaim, Darren McLennan, Mike Westwood, Allen Craig, and Graham Hughes rounding out the field.  

In the second heat race, Kyle Hutchinson put the Casey’s Truck Salvage No. 88 in victory lane with Daniel Hawn, Charlie Schultz, Cory Whittam, Jacob Schulz and Ryan Hessler following. 

Mark Schulz took the win in heat three, followed by James Stanley, Josh Patterson, Scott Kreutter, Steve Craig, and Kenyon Zitzka.  

The Bandolero feature was a hotly contested affair, with Bentley Thompson, Chase Spaulding and Gerald White III all battling for the top three spots before finishing in that order.  Evan Johnson and Christopher Flynn rounded out the top five.  Completing the order were Jordan Bauer, Lily Whynot, Blake Michael, Maci Prowell, Mya Eatherly, Irelyn Rose,e Landon Thrasher, Tinsley Myers, and Conner Hall.  

Jerrod Holle held off Nick Bulkeley and Caden Tufts to win his second Legends feature in two days, and this time he was able to get through post-race tech with no issues.  Preston Wrisley finished fourth and Jackson Denton got fifth.  Rounding out the field were Jake Baker, Ayrton Brockhouse, Tyler Garretson, Rose Borntreger, Hunter Jordan, Trent Dillard, and Aidan Potter. 

Local racer Sadie Parsons drove her “Fueled By Faith” special No. 3 to the win in the Charger feature as she also won for the second straight night.  Colton Hale and Luke Giglio had strong performances to finish second and third, followed by Landon Thrasher, Nathan Williams, Ayden Louisnord, Bryson Carlbert, Jagger Parker, Allee Johnson, Jacob Blizzard, Rhylee Hutchins, Addison Martinez, Matthew Patrokus, Caleb Drimmie, Thomas Harris and Jacob Linc. 

The Baby Grand division competed at the Winter Showdown for the first time on Thursday, featuring a “Fab Four” from the UK competing against the best in the USA.  Danny Trent from Indiana held off North Carolina racer Justin Gareis and fellow Hoosier Kent Baledge to earn himself a “Palm Tree” Trophy.  

Behind Gareis and Baledge were Tyler Ledbetter, Steven Lees (UK), Robin Bath (UK), Joe Dunn, Karl Baker (UK), Reece Pyne (UK), Anthony Rogers, and Randy Roper.

Max Handley opened up a sizeable lead in the early going of the 602 Modified feature, but the No. 40 of Roger Blevins ran Handley in his No. 49 down in the later stages, falling just under a second short at the end.  Handley got the trophy with Blevins, Sean McElearney, and Cody Norman filling out the four-car field. 

The Young Lions legend car feature was exciting, with Jayden Johnson and Matthew Laprade waging war for the win, with Johnson proving to be better on Thursday night.  Laprade captured a second to go with his Wednesday night win, while Spencer Bradshaw finished third for the second straight race.  Ben Morabito, Sam Macedo, Laquan McCoy, TJ Moon, and “Catfish” Karter Beattie rounded out the finishing order. 

The TQ Midget feature was a two-car throwdown, with Brian Schulz and Kyle Hutchinson trading the lead back and forth and winging through traffic like the pros that they are.  Dominique Smith had a fast car but was no match for the two leaders, as Schulz ultimately held off Hutchinson to take the checkered flag.  

Fourth place went to Daniel Hawn, while Charlie Schultz finished fifth.  Sixth through tenth were Darren McLennan, Josh Patterson, Mark Schulz, Scott Kreutter, and Ronnie Flaim.  Jacob Schulz, Mike Westwood, Kenyon Zitzka, Allen Craig, James Stanley, Cory Whittam, Graham Hughes and Ryan Hessler. 

Jacob Bradley triumphed in the nightcap Legends feature for Pros and Masters, holding off Jackson Lewis and Zachary Martinez to do it.  Wyatt Philyaw, Luke Loveland, Art Hahn, Shawn Parker, and Matt Hillhouse followed behind in a competitive end to the evening. 

Friday night’s Winter Showdown Series action at Auburndale Speedway will feature twin features for the 602 Modifieds along with TQ Midgets, Baby Grands, Legend Cars, and Bandoleros plus fireworks. Racing starts at 6 pm.
