Lucama, N.C. – Florida racer Brody Gunter traveled to Lucama, North Carolina for Southern National Motorsports Park’s annual Thanksgiving Classic to compete in the legend car portion of the two-day event. 

Friday’s practice saw the 18-year-old running in the top ten of the 54-car field.  Unfortunately, the smiles turned to frowns for the team as they adjusted the car going into qualifying which worked against them, and Gunter qualified 21st fastest. 

On Saturday, Brody and his crew went back to work to dial the car’s setup back in for his feature event.  With track officials splitting the large competitive field into two 27-car features, Brody would start his main from the 11th position.  

The easygoing driver was excited to get the race underway, but once again lady luck turned away from him.  On the first lap of the race, a multi-car accident left Brody with nowhere to go to avoid and he ended up in the wall with heavy damage to his sharp-looking No. 01.  

Though his race was cut short, Gunter did his best to find the lemonade in the lemon he’d been dealt.  “This definitely wasn’t the result we wanted,” he said.  “Especially because we felt like we were competitive and showed good speed all weekend.  We just didn’t have any luck to allow us to show what we could do.  Todd and the 510 Motorsports team were solid for us here.  It just wasn’t our weekend.  We are planning to run a race at Auburndale Speedway in Florida this month as a tune-up for February’s Winter Showdown Series and the INEX Winternationals, which both take place there during Florida Speedweeks.  It will be fun to race closer to home for a while.  Thanks to 510 Motorsports and Jordan Black Driver Development for their help all weekend and to all my supporters as well.”
