SOPHIA, N.C. — Jon McKennedy drove the John Nicotra Racing No. 79 to a $10,000 victory in supermodified racing’s return to the North-South Shootout Saturday, Nov. 9 at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina. 23 supermodifieds traveled from across the US and Canada to race in the event, with 22 starting the feature after a blown motor in practice sidelined the Ron Henes No. 36 for the weekend.

All 22 supermodifieds broke the Caraway Speedway track speed record of 15.6 seconds.
McKennedy's 14.187 topped the charts, and several drivers told SWN they thought 13-second laps were possible in future races.
