CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Photo by Jared C. Tilton - Getty Images -- NASCAR has lowered the boom on three Cup Series teams for conduct violations following Sunday's race at Martinsville Speedway. The teams involved are the Richard Childress Racing No. 3 team, the Trackhouse Racing No. 1 team and the 23XI racing No. 23 team.

The penalties came as a result of the teams' effort to manipulate the outcome of the race by allowing fellow Chevrolet driver William Byron to remain ahead of them and pass Bubba late in the race and gain a position in an effort to advance to the championship round at Phoenix when Bell was penalized.

Byron was not penalized and remains in the Final Four.  

Ross Chastain (Trackhouse Racing), Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing), and Bubba Wallace (23XI Racing) each had 50 driver points taken away and a $100,000 fine. Each team's owner was fined $100,000 and deducted 50 owners series points.

Crew chiefs Phil Surgen (Chastain), Justin Alexander (Dillon) and Bootie Barker (Wallace), along with their respective spotters Brandon McReynolds, Brandon Benesch and Freddie Kraft, have all been suspended for this weekend's season finale at Phoenix Raceway.

Team executives Tony Lunders, Keith Rodden and Dave Rogers were also suspended for Phoenix.

Richard Childress Racing and 23XI Racing both have already announced that they would appeal the ruling.
