Lucama, N.C. -- Florida racer Brody Gunter, 18, nabbed a third-place finish in legend car competition on Saturday at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina.  For Brody, it was the last opportunity to get some track time in before the track's big Thanksgiving Weekend Classic at the end of November. 

Gunter was third fastest in practice and qualified third, so three was a bit of a magic number on Saturday.  He wound up starting on the pole for the feature and was excited to challenge for a victory.  

"We had a car that we thought going in was going to be a winning car," he explained.  "But once the race started, the car just didn't handle the way we thought it would, and I just couldn't get through the corners like I wanted to, which means we just didn't have the pace overall that we needed.  We wound up finishing third."

He summed his night up by saying, "I did what I could with the car I had and not having any cautions made it harder because we couldn't pit for an adjustment or anything. On the positive side, we led some laps and we got a lot of information about the setup. Todd (McCallum) will take it back and work on it, and we are looking to come back with a car that can win the Classic on Thanksgiving Weekend.  Thank you to my family and to Todd and 510 Racing for all they do for me.”
