Karter Beattie Wins Millbridge Jr. Wing Track Championship
MILLBRIDGE, N.C. -- Karter Beattie, 13, of Concord, North Carolina wrapped up his second Millbridge Speedway track championship this past Saturday, winning the title in the Jr. Wing division with a second-place finish in the final points race of the year.
After finishing second in his heat race, Beattie started sixth in the main event. He charged early and battled in the top three the entire race. He led briefly, fell to third briefly but snagged second back with a last lap move to the line.
"The car was loose so we had to run the top," the racer explained. "But it was fast! I led for a minute but I just couldn't stay there. I'm just happy we got the championship. Thank you to my fans, team, and sponsors for all they do to help us win races and championships like this."
The up-and-coming racer also made his debut in a non-wing Micro Sprint, adapting quickly and finishing second in his heat race. He started sixth in the feature event and was fighting hard for position when mechanical problems put him out of the race. He finished 18th.
Beattie now has 12 national championships and two Millbridge track championships to his credit.
He has been invited to compete in Millbridge's upcoming Top Gun Invitational on Tuesday, November 5th with his winged 600 Micro Sprint. This, after he won two races in that division over the past four weeks, beating one of the true "Top Guns" of the sport, Kyle Larson, to claim his first one.
On Sunday, November 3rd, Karter and his winged micro will be in appearance at Mottzarellas Pizza Restaurant from 11 am to 3 pm to help promote the big race! Mottzarellas is located at 128 South Salisbury Ave in Granite Quarry, North Carolina, and is open from Wednesday through Sunday each week serving some of the finest food in the area.
