THORNBURG, Va. – Florida racer Brody Gunter traveled to Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia and walked off with two top five finishes amidst tight legend car competition last weekend. 

Gunter, 18, qualified fifth and got off to a flying start in the first of the two 20-lap features. He charged quickly into second, but then got nudged up to the outside and fell back to fifth.  With just a couple of laps ago, he got caught up in a multi-car accident and had to restart from the back of the field. 

In just two laps he winged his way through the field to somehow end up right back where he started – crossing the line in fifth – a sterling performance from the 510 Racing driver. 

“Well, that one was surely a lot of work!” Gunter said with a smile. “We had a really fast car and when I got to second I thought we had a shot at it.  But we got freight-trained and then got caught up in the wreck so we had to go into recovery mode.  I’m thankful that we still got a top-five out of it.  We’ll do what we can to improve for the second race.” 

The second feature started out with a nice surprise for the team as the invert put Gunter on the pole.  But, when the race started, he fell back to third and spent the rest of the race running second, third or fourth depending on the lap in a spirited battle for a podium position. 

He was running second going into the last lap but fell to third at the finish line, giving him an average finish of fourth for the two races. 

“It was an amazing and fun track to learn and experience, I loved everything here from the racing to the facilities. I look forward to the next time we come back so we can improve even more on what we accomplished and hopefully chase a win.  Thank you to 510 Racing and everyone who helps and supports me at and away from the track, and I also want to say that we are praying for all of our fellow Floridians and everyone in the Southeast who has been through so much with the hurricanes the past few weeks. Our hearts are with you all.”
