Livin’ The Dream – Brendan Young Nails First Podium In Oswego 350 Super Main

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Last Saturday night, Oswego Speedway 350 Supermodified racer Brendan Young came closer to fulfilling his lifelong dream of winning a race at the Oswego Speedway, as he finished third in the 30-lap feature and ran times that closely mirrored those of winner Josh Sokolic.

“This was a really cool night,” Young said following the event.  “I finally feel like one with the car.  We were just over a tenth-of-a-second off of Josh in time trials, so I feel like we are getting closer.  That gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season.”

Young has also solidified his team fundraiser for the 2024 season.  The historic Dryden Hotel in Dryden, New York has existed since 1844.  They are in year two of sponsoring their local favorite and will host a fundraiser on Saturday, July 13th from Noon until 4 pm.  There will be a chicken BBQ, music, and raffles.  The public is welcome to stop by, get an autograph or photo with Brendan and his beautiful purple No. 75 car, and enjoy some good food and fun.

“Our whole team is looking forward to a fun day at the Dryden Hotel next month,” Young said. “I want to thank the staff and management there for their ongoing support as well as KML Trucking, Top Quality Carpet, RC3, and Tracey Road Equipment.  We appreciate all our supporters and fans.  They inspire us to work hard all week to chase wins on Saturday.  I am getting so much more comfortable in the car and I feel a win is within our grasp.”

Commenting on the low car count in the 350 class, Young said, “I wish there were more cars.  It’s a fun class, and for someone like me, it allowed me to live my dream of racing at Oswego.  I don’t have the funds for a big block.  The drivers in this class are very competitive, and the cars are a lot of fun to drive.  Just to be able to finish behind Josh (Sokolic) and Talen, who is getting better every week, is an accomplishment. We miss Dave Cliff, and we are praying for a full recovery for him.  He’s a top-notch racer and it was tough to see him get hurt in the practice.  You have Kyle (Perry), Mike Bruce running some, and then when you get the New England drivers it doesn’t take a lot of cars to make a really exciting race.”

Brendan will be back in action on Saturday, June 8th at the Oswego Speedway.  If you cannot come to the track that night, you can watch all the action live via FloRacing.com.  For more information about the Oswego Speedway, visit their website at www.oswegospeedway.com.
