John Hunter Nemechek Joins Legacy Motor Club For 2024 Cup Series Run
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Current NASCAR Xfinity Series championship contender John Hunter Nemechek and Legacy Motor Club Co-Owner Jimmie Johnson joined Fox Sports' NASCAR Race Hub Show on Wednesday to announce that Nemechek will join Legacy Motor Club in 2024 to pilot the No. 42 Chevrolet in the Cup Series.
Nemechek previously raced in the Cup Series in 2020 for Front Row Motorsports before stepping back in 2021 to the Truck Series to compete for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He's been running for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series for the past two seasons and is in the running for a championship with the No. 20 JGR Toyota this year.
Rumors suggest that perhaps current Tricon Garage NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim, who won this year's regular season championship in the series, may be in line to replace Nemechek in the Xfinity Series ride in 2024, but we know that Nemechek will have even more reason to win a championship for the team before he heads to the Cup Series next year.
