OSWEGO N.Y. -- Team SWN Story / Photo -- New England hotshoe Jeffrey Battle took home top honors in today's 350 Supermodified Classic at the Oswego Speedway after coming back from the rear of the field following a pit stop early in the 50-lap event.  Battle's win was his fourth in the six 350 Classic races run. 

The race began with the No. 4 of Robbie Wirth spinning coming off turn four to the green flag. Wirth started ninth but pitted after the spin and was out for the day with rear end issues.  

2023 track champion Josh Sokolic also pitted for adjustments under this yellow and did not return.  Sokolic's day was cut short by mechanical problems on his fast machine. 

Storace took off out front on the restart with Bobby Holmes, Nick Barzee, Dave Cliff and Eddie Witkum following.

The yellow flag was waved for Ryan Battle on lap 8.  Battle spun on the back straightaway and it was then that his brother Jeff pitted his car during this caution.  Jeff had started fifth and was sliding backward through the field.  

Both cars returned before the restart and slotted themselves at the back. 

Storace, Holmes, Barzee, Cliff and Witkum were the top five on the restart.  

Third-generation driver Talon Hawksby also pitted for some adjustments on his No. 79 after starting pole, and returned to action.

Four laps later the No. 73 of Noah Ratcliffe got sideways off turn two and tatooed the backstretch wall, bringing out the third yellow of the event.  

Ratcliffe was OK, but the car was done for the day.

Storace pulled away on the restart while Cliff marched to third and Jeff Battle charged  his way back into the top six. 

Battle went to fourth on lap 20 behind Storace, Holmes and Cliff, then passed Cliff for third. 

Caution waved again on lap 24 as Hawksby hit the foam blocks in turn three, ending his race early. Hawksby was not injured.  

Storace continued to lead with Holmes, Battle, Cliff and Barzee rounding out the top five.

Battle blew by Holmes on the restart and began putting pressure on Storace for the lead.

Witkum also picked off a couple of cars and moved from sixth to fourth. 

It took Battle until lap 45 to get by Storace in traffic but he stayed with it and his patience paid off as he finally got the lead and went on to take the checkered flag for the fourth time in this event. 

Storace finished second in one of his finest hours at the Speedway.  Eddie Witkum, Jr. finished third, followed by Barzee and Ryan Battle, who also charged back after his early race spin to claim a top five finish.
